Water temperature: February is the coldest month in the waters around Daedelus Reef, with water temperatures around 20° C / 68° F. In September the water temperatures are considerably higher, usually around 27° C / 81° F.

Dive site information: Daedelus Reef is a small and isolated reef situated in the central Red Sea, 52 nautical miles off Marsa 'Alam. It is remotely located in the open sea, almost halfway to Saudi Arabia. Daedelus Reef has drops on the south, east and north sides and all of them are good dive sites that reach down well beyond 70 m / 230 ft. The south drop is the most sheltered one.

Marine life: The Daedelus Reef is a very well developed and healthy reef, with good hard and soft coral coverage from the surface and far down. The west side features an anemone city packed with gorgeous anemones and some striking blue corals. Pelagic fish prefer the north side of the Daedelus Reef. Thresher sharks have frequently been spotted where the eastern drop-off reaches the southeast end of the reef. There is also a dense population of reef fish species as well as schooling ones such as longnose unicornfish, surgeons and snappers.
