Water temperature: The water temperatures at Giftun Seghir depend on time of year. February is the coldest month, with water temperatures from 20° C (68°F). After the hot Egyptian summer, September offers water temperatures around 27° C (81° F).

Dive site information: The dive site called Giftun Seghir is situated on the south-eastern side of the smaller of the two Giftun islands. Giftun Seghir is known to be a great wall dive, with a wall dropping steep down to 45 m + /150 feet +. The wall is extraordinary contoured and has a rough profile with several interesting caves. The most impressive arched swimthrough is unfortunately located at over 45 m /150 ft and it therefore beyond reach for many scuba divers. Along the south side of the reef, the dive site is a shallower and less challenging.

Marine life: Hard and soft corals cover the reef. The steep wall has a nice collection of gorgonians and an impressively dense growth of antipatharian black corals and sea whips. If you want to see colourful reef fish, the shallower part of the reef is the best area for you. Larger pelagics is more frequently spotted off the wall.
