Depth: The average depth at Maklouf is 18 m / 60 ft and the maximum depth exceeds 40 m / 130 ft.

Water temperature: Water temperatures at Maklouf are susceptible to seasonal changes. The coldest month is February with temperatures around 20° C / 68° F. September offers the warmest scuba diving, with water temperatures around 27° C / 81° F.

Dive site information: You enter the Maklouf dive site through a canyon that descends through the reeftop and eventually widens into a big sandy area. The entry canyon features a lot cavelets. The sands continue to the south and slopes down to 40 m / 130 ft. It is interrupted to the north and the south by big coral reef blocks

Marine life: The sandy area at Maklouf is speckled with coral heads. The reef is also filled with nice looking corals, and especially the southern part of Maklouf is rich in hard corals. There are several types of soft corals growing here too and Maklouf is also home to a remarkable red anemone the grows on an isolated block of coral in the sand, at approximately 15 m / 50 ft. Jacks and fusiliers are thriving at Maklouf, together with many other reef fish species, such as damsels, glassfish, fairy basslets and lionfish. The more open area around the reef is populated by blue spotted stinrays, eagle rays and crocodielfish, and is frequently visited by the whitetip reef shark.
