Water temperature: Water temperatures at Shag Rock changes with the season, from 20° C (68° F) in February to 27° C (81° F) in September.

Dive site information: Shag Rock is located at the southernmost tip of the Shaab Ali reef complex. The Shag Rock is an egg-shaped reef, stretching from northwest to southeast. The eastern side of the reef is usually considered a better dive than the rest. You can see a light beacon and the wreck of a fishing boat at the top of the reef, and the reef top is just barely covered in water. Shag Rock also features one other wreck, the Sarah H that rests in the shallow waters just offshore. The reeftop is surrounded by a sloping reef wall, consisting of hard and soft corals. There are a lot of branching forms, as well as some patches filled with very beautiful soft corals.

Marine life: The soft and hard coral diversity is good, but not outstanding. Reef fish and schooling fish as well as pelagic fish from a lot of different species are present at Shag Rock.
